Advanced and beginner yoga classes
Do the best you can with what you’ve got
One of the questions we’re often asked is whether we have advanced yoga classes in our schedule. Our founder, Sebastien Carincotte, has one simple answer: “There’s no such thing as advanced yoga.” Before anyone gets their bendy, flexible body in a twist, let us explain the reasoning behind this – yoga is not about the position, it is about the practice. It’s about where your body is at physically, and doing the best you can with what you’ve got, on the day you practice.
If your level of strength and flexibility is high (or you consider it advanced), you’ll be happy to hear that all of our classes are suitable for you. Sebastien will guide you into the full position of each pose throughout the sequence – using the physical movements, bandhas and pranayama – and it’s up to you to push yourself to the limit you feel comfortable with. Similarly, if you are new to the practice, consider yourself a beginner, or have limited strength and flexibility, you can attend all of our classes too. You’ll be given instruction on how to reach a version of the position that suits your body; with each new class, you will find yourself going deeper into the pose.
It’s not a competition; it’s not a race to see who can get into the position fastest. In fact, the position itself is not the goal. Concentration and meditation is the goal, and it doesn’t matter whether you can put your feet behind your head or if you can’t even get close to touching your toes. Yoga means union and in our classes at Hot Yoga Ibiza, a beginner and an experienced yogi can practice side by side and experience the exact same benefits. Our studio is an inclusive safe space, where everyone is welcome to practice at their own level – see our class schedule here and please join our community soon!
