What is yoga?
An Ibiza holiday experience
In recent years, yoga has become an essential part of many people’s holiday experiences. For some, it can be an introductory yoga class at a resort that leads them to discover the practice; for others, the entire holiday may be focused around the practice – an intensive retreat week allowing them to delve deeper into the philosophies and positions. Ibiza is the perfect destination to take a relaxing holiday while working on your practice but rather than be locked into a full-itinerary, weeklong yoga retreat, why not curate your own yoga holiday with some guidance from the island experts at Hot Yoga Ibiza?
Ibiza holds endless appeal for yogis. Beautiful beaches, a laidback bohemian lifestyle, a vast array of healthy and organic cuisine, nature in abundance – and let’s not forget there are plenty of places to move your body and dance, should the urge arise. The Hot Yoga Ibiza studio welcomes drop-in students from all corners of the globe to try the four different styles of class on offer: Hot Yoga, Bikram, CORE 40 and Ashtanga Vinyasa. Our founder, Sebastien Carincotte speaks four languages and our student community is warm and welcoming, making it a wonderful space for you to maintain your practice while enjoying the rest of the island in your spare time.
It’s also important to note Ibiza is an all-year-round destination and Hot Yoga Ibiza remains open 12 months a year. Whether you’re catching the last of the late summer sun, planning a winter escape or dreaming about next year already, here are some ideas to get you inspired.
SLEEP
Depending on your budget, the island offers an array of accommodation ranging from luxury villas and five-star hotels to the more-humble holiday apartments and lower rate hostels. We recommend choosing an area that is close to the studio as your holiday home base, to make the task of getting to class each morning a simple one. There are plenty of great areas: Ibiza town and its famous old town, Dalt Vila, the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site are a beautiful location and within walking, or biking distance. The lovely local beach of Talamanca is also just a short drive away and also offers picture perfect sunrises while the quaint village of Jesus is a lovely place to assimilate into life as a local. Websites such as white-ibiza.com, Airbnb.com and tripadvisor.com can help you find the right home away from home to suit your style and budget.
EAT
Ibiza has experienced a health food boom this season and now there are more health-conscious places to eat than ever. Some of our favourites include Eat Is Life – conveniently located opposite the studio, it’s a laidback space (with fast WiFi) serving up fresh juices, smoothies and a seriously impressive assortment of homemade gourmet creations to eat in and take-away, if you prefer to picnic on the beach after class. An island classic is Passion Café (and there are six different locations around the island) and a newfound discovery is Bali Bowls & Smoothies in Ibiza town. By night, places like The Giri Café in the north, Wild Beets in Santa Gertrudis, Aubergine on the road to San Miguel and Atzaro’s La Veranda offer lovely candlelit settings in which to enjoy organic, farm-to-table cuisine. And of course, if you have your own kitchen in a villa or apartment you can also explore the organic markets – in Ibiza’s new town and old town alike – and stores to whip up your own culinary creations.
BEACH
So many beaches, so little time. There are over 90 beaches in Ibiza, and half the fun is going off the beaten track and exploring them yourself. There are the iconic bucket list beaches of Las Salinas, Aguas Blancas and Benirras, each famed for their bohemian ambience and stunning natural beauty. Then there are the hidden gems – the beaches that remain unspoiled, retaining their authentic Ibiza vibes. But we’re not going to tell you about them here! We have a hidden agenda you see – we want our best-kept secrets to remain just that! So rather than list all of our favourite secret coves and blissful bays on the internet, for one and all to see, we’d rather you come to class and ask for our recommendation in person. Don’t be shy… we don’t bite!
