Are all classes given in Spanish?
The hot yoga class is most of the time taught in two languages: Spanish AND English. All other classes are taught in the language most appropriate to the group of students in the class.
Why do we work with a heated room?
At the begining you might find that the heat, combined with intense excercise, is too much for you. You can always sit through a poses if necesary during the class. We recomand you to avoid leaving the room during the class so you can become acclimated to the heat. You will get used to the heat quickly. It will help your practice to progress, to prepare your muscles, like this you will work safer and deeper. And you will sweat a lot… that will clean your body of toxines
What do i need to bring to class?
As we practice dynamic styles of yoga we suggest wearing comfortable and light clothing, the extra bodies in the room mean that busy classes can get pretty steamy! We therefore advise bringing a towel and a bottle of mineral or coconut water, and to make sure you are well hydrated before the class. You are welcome to bring your own mat and towl or use one of the mats available for rent at the studio.
For hot yoga classes you will want to have a bottle of water and consider dressing light – shorts, sports bra or a light top for women, and swimming trunks for men – ideally something close to the body to allow better movement.
How do I keep hydrated?
Does my body have to be flexible?
We all have different bodies and we think that’s something to celebrate. There are some people who will never be able to put their feet behind their ears and others who can, which can look impressive but it doesn’t make them healthier or happier than anyone else. That said, we do believe that you should work to improve your flexibility. Better flexibility means better circulation means a healthier body. But the fact is you don’t have to have the hamstrings of a gymnast to benefit from the yoga we teach. We will help you to find your place in every Yoga pose.
Do I need to book?
It is always a good idea to book your first class in advance to guarantee your space in the studio. Classes can be pre-booked online, over the phone, or at the studio. Most classes are usually fine to drop-in to, but we do advise to pre-book hot yoga classes, as these are very popular! Because class spaces are limited, we have a strict 2-hour cancellation policy on all of our classes. If you have pre-booked a space and are unable to make it, please call or email us in advance.
Is it normal to find the first few classes difficult?
Yes! Yoga is much more cardiovascular than most people imagine. First-timers may also wake up the next day feeling a few aches in places they didn’t realize they had muscles but the great news is this is because yoga works. The more you practice the stronger and suppler your body will become and, in turn, the more you will enjoy your practice. With a bit of dedication you’ll make rapid progress. Yoga is demanding but it is also invigorating. Our relaxation exercises at the end of every practice will ensure you leave feeling calm and content.
How often should I practice?
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (founder of Ashtanga Yoga) once said “practice and all is coming”. He was right. Yoga is intended to be a daily practice. However don’t be discouraged if you can’t always find time, we know just how hectic life can be. For best results, you should practice at least 3 times a week, optimally 5 times a week, so the different body parts and systems keep the benefits and continue to evolve and correct themselves. We encourage you to come as often as you can with an unlimited yoga pass. Yoga requires your dedication for you to feel its total benefits.
Which class should I come to?
If you are a beginner you may like to start with one of our shorter Hatha yoga classes. These are perfect for both complete beginners and those that prefer to take their yoga practice at a slightly gentler pace. If you are feeling confident, all our classes are open to everyone and we provide variations to suit your level of practice and to challenge those that want to take their practice further. Make sure you listen to your body and take rest whenever needed!
Where can I stay?
The island is a wonderful place to stay for a few days! If you intend to practice alot when on Ibiza we recommend that you stay close to Ibiza town, where you can walk to shops, restaurants and the studio – which is 10-15 minutes walk from the port.
San Antonio is 20 minutes away by car, Santa Eulalia 20-40 minutes and Portinatx 30-35 minutes drive. Summertime on Ibiza is very busy, please stay attentive and drive carefully!
Playa den Bossa and San Antonio are not a good picture of what Ibiza is. Rent a car and visit our beautiful nature – for more visit www.white-ibiza.com.
